🌊✨Celebrating an incredible year for Waatu Kaatijin (Ocean Knowledge)! Last week, the fantastic Year 5 students at Margaret River proudly showcased the projects they've passionately worked on throughout the year. They handed over the torch to next year's Year 5 students, who will continue caring for their adopted beach next year.

The students achieved remarkable outcomes! From creating an informative website about the unique marine animals in the Margaret River region to addressing the issue of dog waste at Gnarabup dog beach through a public awareness campaign. Another class analyzed the recipe for healthy rock pools, and a fourth class developed a coastal code of conduct to inspire everyone to be stewards for our coast.

🌏 Deputy Principal Jenny Robb praised the students for their "creative, innovative, and inspiring" work, emphasizing how Waatu Kaatijin enables them to be problem solvers and active citizens on Wardandi country. Zac Webb from Undalup Association Inc. thanked the Year 5s for their hard work in caring for the country, noting that they have truly become stewards for the coast.

🚀 This year marked the successful launch of Australia's first educational Marine Area, made possible through a partnership with Nature Conservation Margaret River. And thanks to our funders - Shire of Augusta Margaret River, Fogarty Foundation, Jock Clough Marine Foundation, and Cape Mentelle!

Cheers to a year filled with dedication, learning, and positive impact! Here's to more ocean knowledge and conservation in the years to come! 🌟
